CE Course Filing

Explanation of the process and paperwork filing deadlines

Within a minimum of 60 days... A new course outline and CE Submission Form must be sent to the CAHU office to then be sent to the CA DOI for approval - (Before the course is taught you must have approval or the students may not receive credit.) DOI requires a minimum of 60 days for approval, but 90 days preferred. Refer to Prelicensing/Continuing Education Program Course Approval Application. Form 446-3 (rev.3/2000) The CE Course Submission Form can be accessed on the CAHU Education page on the CAHU Website.

Within a minimum of 21 days...
Of an existing course being presented, the CAHU office must receive notice of the class being taught. This is accomplished by completing a CE Course Submission Form. This form can be accessed on the CAHU Education page on the CAHU website.

Certificate of Completion One Master copy of the Certificate of Completion will be mailed to you before the class presentation. You will be responsible for making the appropriate amount of copies and distributing them. The certificate is merely a receipt that the student attended the course. The most important piece of information is the Provider Roster. The DOI updates the licenses from that sheet. Again, we should stress the importance of timelines in filling out the form COMPLETELY and sending it for the proper signatures.

Within 5 to 10 DAYS... Of the completion of the class the Typed Provider Roster MUST be received by the CAHU office. That means both the Course Attendance Record and the Provider Roster must be received by the CAHU office (for the proper signature) in time to then be forwarded to the DOI. We would suggest at least 5 business days. We also ask that the entire original speaker packet be returned to the CAHU office.

Note: The DOI is "cracking down" on their time guidelines. Any documents received late may not receive credit. Also, they are not responsible for documents that are filled out improperly and will send them back. This may also make the filing time too late to receive credit.

Record Keeping We should urge all C.E. students to keep an updated record of which classes they have attended. The Certificate of Completion is important, but they should also keep a list of the Course Number and Title, the date it was taught, and the address where it was held. These are the categories the DOI (and the CAHU office) will use when trying to reference verification of attendance.

If the deadlines are not met there will be a $50 assessment to cover additional staff time and overnight mail charges
