File a New CE Course
You may choose to write a brand new course for an upcoming program where you would like to use CAHU as the course provider.
Note:
Before proceeding be advised that CAHU as a provider offers its courses free of charge to its local chapters for the benefit of its members. Once a CE course is filed through CAHU, it is the property of CAHU and if presented to a non-CAHU group there may be charges accessed for the use of the course. See
When the course outline is received by CAHU, CAHU's VP of Education reviews the outline to determine if it generally meets the DOI requirements for a qualified CE course.
Then CAHU will submit your new course to the Department of Insurance to obtain final approval of the course for CE credit.
Therefore allow least 60 days to complete the paperwork to get your new course qualified for credit.
To submit a new course you will need to create a detailed course outline for the DOI.
The course outline must include:
- An opening detailed statement or paragraph as to how the course is relevant to insurance topics and/or insurance products.
- How much time will be spent discussing each part of outline; every section should reflect a time allotment. Note: plan on a one-page outline for every hour of CE credit desired.
- Provide to CAHU any handouts you plan to distribute at the class.
CAHU will submit your outline and accompanying handouts to the DOI on a DOI Course Approval Application form.
The DOI will take approximately 45 days to review the application. If the course is approved, the DOI will give CAHU a course number which can then be used in publicity and subsequent CE paperwork
