Policy For Use of CAHU Continuing Education Classes by Non-CAHU Organizations

Effective September, 2000, CAHU adopted a policy of charging for the use of CAHU courses when the CAHU classes are given to organizations other than CAHU local chapters or for seminars given by CAHU member instructors for the benefit of CAHU members. CAHU charges a basic fee of $250.00 per class plus $2.00 per attendee if there are more than 50 attendees in the class. If CAHU's association management company, the Professional Exchange Service Corporation (PESC), is required to type attendee rosters after the class is given, PESC will charge the organization a $16.00 per hour fee for clerical typing services. Fees for CAHU classes used by non-CAHU organizations are payable in advance.

Checks should be made payable to CAHU and mailed to CAHU's office at:
P.O. Box 1071,
Fresno, CA 93714

An optional instructor honorarium is customary when CAHU member speakers are used by non-CAHU organizations. The minimum honorarium is $150; however, honorarium rates may be negotiated on an individual basis. This instructor honorarium can be waived by the instructor, at the instructor's discretion, or the instructor can ask the non-CAHU organization to make a donation of the honorarium to CAHU.

Instructor expenses for travel or other expenses, as specified by the CAHU course user or required by the course (such as materials, copying, etc.) shall be reimbursable to the instructor within 15 days of receipt of expense receipts.

Contact persons for the organization will be provided with the DOI Provider Roster form, a Course Attendance Record Sheet, a Representative (Instructor) Certificate, and the CE Course Award Certificates for attendees.

The Certification of Representative and the CE Course Award Certificates must be signed by the instructor. Distribute copies of the CE Course Award Certificate to each attendee and return the original Certification of Representative and CE Course Award certificate the CAHU office at the above address. Paperwork must be returned to the CAHU office within two (2) weeks after the class is presented.

Contact persons must also return the Attendance Record Sheets, a typed Provider Roster, and any other signed forms to CAHU within two (2) weeks of the course presentation so CAHU can process and submit the necessary paperwork to the Department of Insurance by the 30-day submission deadline after completion of a class. However, if CAHU is responsible for typing the final Provider Roster, all paperwork must be received within one week after the class is presented to allow ample time for typing, processing, and submission to the Department of Insurance. PESC, CAHU's association management company, must be paid in advance if typing of the final Provider Roster is required.
